Things from the Desk of the Editor-in-Chief

  1. FOR EVERY HEART IN GRAY

RITES OF PASSAGE SEASON we’re totally in the thick of it. Between the MARCH BACK welcoming new cadets back from beast and A-DAY which bestowed upon them acceptance into the Corps of Cadets and essentially giving them their white service caps (to one day, a long time from now, toss at graduation) to AFFIRMATION sealing the deal for Cows and RING WEEKEND this weekend solidifying Firsties ability to annoyingly claim “my last blah blah blah” as they spend the next 9 months trying to not get in trouble. Poor Yearlings, no one is even thinking about you. Don’t worry Yuks, we aren’t either.

FIRST CAPTAIN DAINE VAN DE WALL congratulations to the NEWLY APPOINTED FIRST CAPTAIN

  2. THE MATRIX

HAS HE LOST HIS MIND this MARVEL + BLACK SABBATH mash-up has not a single thing to do with West Point, and man…it’s cheesy as all hell but I love every single bit of it. Enjoy fellow nerds.

  3. THE DESIGN OF THINGS

DESIGN OF A CLASS MOTTO on August 12th, USMA 2023 unveiled their class motto “FREEDOM IS NOT FREE” here’s a few other recent class years ending with a “3”

    2013: Defending the Dream

    2003: Protectors of the Free

    1993: Defenders of the Free

    1983: Proud to Be

    1973: Proud and Free

    1963: Quality

(yeah, that’s it…Quality…oddly enough, its also the USNA 63’s motto and while searching for this I came across this gem: A CADET ON A 1963 EPISODE OF TO TELL THE TRUTH)

    1953: still searching for it

And the first ever class motto:

1835: Amicitiae Periculique Foedus (Danger Brings Forth Friendship)

THE DESIGN OF LORE have you ever really looked at the famous photo MIGRANT MOTHER? Have you ever really listened to a STRADIVARIUS? Also, here’s a WEST POINT VERSION OF SWORD IN THE STONE
